Bitton 0-4 Street
For the second game in succession Street won with a 4-0 score line as Street kept the pressure on the teams at the top. Today's performance probably ranks as the best of the season against a very experienced Bitton side as Dave O'Hare helped himself to a hat-trick to see the Cobblers claim all 3 points.
The first 20 minutes both sides were evenly matched until Street made the breakthrough when Craig Herrod whipped in a cross from the right hand side and O'Hare ghosted in unmarked to nod his header into the bottom corner. Street got a strong foothold in the game following the goal dominating possession and keeping Bitton attacks to a minimum. On 37 minutes street were further ahead when a excellent ball by Lewis Tasker into the channel was latched onto by Herrod, his ball into the box was controlled by O'Hare who side stepped his marker and riffle past the Bitton GK. The host were finding it hard to control Street's attacking threat and it was Herrod on 41 minutes giving Street a 3-0 half time lead when he collected a ball on the edge of the box to slot home via a slight deflection.
Straight after the restart Bitton had their first meaningful attempt at goal when Dean Griffiths hit the post with Tom Punchard stranded. Street were keeping things tight, with Ben Robertson having an outstanding game at the heart of the back four. On the hour mark a good move involving O'Hare and Steve Murray saw Josh Bennett flash an effort wide as Street continued to look for more goals.
On 70 minutes Murray was released down the left, his effort on the angle was saved and Herrod couldn't quite keep the rebound down with his effort sailing over. With two minutes left it was O'Hare that tapped in from close range for a great hat-trick to make it 4-0 after more good work from Herrod, his third assist of the afternoon. Punchard pulled off a wonderful save in the dying moments tipping a direct free-kick round the post to give Street a successive clean sheet and a cap off a brilliant team performance.
Man of the match was Dave O'Hare (Ben Robertson running him close!)
Up the Cobbs!
