Street Youth Chosen for Tesco Bags for Help Fundraiser

Street Youth have been chosen as one of the local organisations to take part in Tesco's Bags of Help Initiative.

Street FC's Head of Youth Ian Smith said "We're absolutely delighted to be selected as one of the local organisations, the good news is that 3rd place gets a £1k, 2nd place £2k and 1st place £4k. The money will go towards building or buying a storage unit, new equipment such as goals, training equipment and kits so to win £4k would really propel the youth set up which is going from strength to strength".

Bags of Help for local projects

Bags of Help is our exciting local community grant scheme where the money raised from the 5p bag charge is being used to fund thousands of local projects in communities right across the UK. Projects that bring benefit to their community will get the green light – these range from improving community buildings and outdoor spaces to buying new equipment, training coaches or volunteers, and hosting community events.

Customers vote

Three community projects in each local area will be voted on by customers in our stores across England, Scotland and Wales, with the projects changing every other month. Each time you shop you will be offered a token at the checkout and be able to vote for your favourite project.

Grants are awarded

At the end of the voting period, all three projects will receive funding in each local area. The amount of funding available for individual local projects will range from £1,000 to £4,000 – keep a look out for the results in store and online.

This money is already making a huge difference to thousands of local communities.

This initiative will be in Glastonbury Tesco from September & October so please let everyone know to support us when they do their shopping!
