Street put in a much improved performance but still had nothing to show for their efforts as they lost for the first time at the Tannery this season.
The opening quarter was a close affair with both teams sizing each other up without really testing either keeper. Street were creating more of the chances with Steve Murray having a 25 yard volley just dip over the bar and on the half hour make a neat turn and run by Murray put him in a dangerous position but he couldn't find the target or find Josh Wadham who was unmarked around the penalty spot. Games turn on moments like that and Odd Down took the lead a few minutes later, Street conceded a free kick 23 yards out in a central location, up stepped Asa White who drove a powerful curling shot into the top corner giving Tom Punchard no chance for 0-1 at half time.
The second half started more open with Street again creating but struggling to test the Odd Down keeper and Odd Down also proving more of threat than in the first half. The Cobblers got an equaliser half way through the second half as the Tannery were treated to another spectacular free kick, this time from a similar distance to Odd Down's free kick but more to the right and perfect for the returning Lewis Tasker left foot to curl one inside the near post post for 1-1. The lead only lasted 9 minutes when a counter attack was broken down by the Street defence but they couldn't stop a cross coming in from the right and it was Asa White who rose and header glanced in off the far post for his second of the game to make it 1-2. The Cobblers came close to an equaliser a couple times with the Odd Down keeper making a good save when Murray was played in and a Craig Herrod volley just went over the bar however it was Odd Down who took the 3 points.
Next up another tough game at home against league leaders Buckland Athletic on Tuesday 29th August 7.30pm.
Up the cobblers.
