Cobblers hit 6 on the road!

After last season’s 5-4 thriller away at Brislington, hopes were high of another entertaining game and it didn’t disappoint.

Street were on the front foot from the start and once they got their noses in front it was all one way traffic. The opening goal came on 12 minutes when Dave O’Hare controlled a left wing cross from Craig Herrod and was fouled in the box following a smart turn. Steve Murray making no mistake from the spot. Five minutes later O’Hare nearly made it two but his curled effort went inches wide following an excellent pass from Matt Hurley. On the half mark it was 2-0 when O’Hare latched onto a poor clearance from the goal keeper and clipped a brilliant effort into the top corner from 25 yards.

On the stroke of half time a goal of the season contender as the ever threatening Josh Wadham(pictured) picked up the ball from deep went past four players and on the angle slammed his effort past the keeper. Outstanding individual effort to make it 3-0 at the break.

Five minutes after the restart Murray caught the Brislington defence napping after running onto a ball over the top but was crudely brought down in the box when well placed to score. Jason Hughes got his marching orders and Murray scored the penalty for 4-0. Helped further by their numerical advantage Street were playing some brilliant football and went at the opposition with ever opportunity. Harry Foster’s effort was well saved when put through one on one but the Cobblers did score a fifth on 75 minutes when a break from Dale Hunt saw him feed O’Hare who cushioned his effort into the far corner.

A minute before full time a great run and pass from Aidan Chainey allowed Foster to make it 6-0 from close range. Brislington scored a consolation deep into added time through Twaine Plummer but didn’t take the gloss off a fine Cobblers performance.
