Chipping Sodbury 0-3 Street

Street make it 10 league wins on the bounce

Street were in dominant form as a Dave O'Hare double helped Street towards another 3 points which helps keep their place at the top of the Western League Premier Division. On a heavy pitch it wasn't easy for either team but it was Street that adapted the better to the conditions and if it wasn't for the home goal keeper the score line could of been ever greater,

The opening 20 minutes it was all Street but could not grab that opening goal as half chances for Craig Herrod, Steve Murray and Josh Wadham came and went. On the 25 minute mark Street did get their noses in from when a terrific cross by Josh Wadham cannoned in off the unfortunate defender. Moments later Murray out muscled his man after a smart turn but his effort was tipped away. In the 35th minute Street should of been 2-0 up when Murray fed Herrod in a central position but his left foot effort sailed wide. On the stroke of half time the Chipping Sodbury goal keeper pulled of a brilliant save tipping Murray's long range effort round the post.

Street knew a second goal was needed to work towards killing the game off and it dually came not long after the break when clever play from Herrod allowed him to get a shot off which was only parried into the path of an on rushing O'Hare who smashed it into the net. Street were now in complete control and moments after the second goal Murray sprinted clear of the Chipping Sodbury defence and was crudely brought down in the box only for his spot kick to be superbly kept out. Ben Robertson was instrumental in helping Street control the tempo of the game from the middle of midfield and Tom Punchard had a trouble free afternoon thanks largely to the dominant form of centre back due Ross McErlain and Ben Amghar.

Street full backs Josh Bennett and Lewis Tasker were seeing plenty of the ball and were now bombing on at every opportunity. After Murray had a goal ruled out for off side the Cobblers made sure of the points in the 80th minute when a superb in swinging cross from the impressive Tasker was met with a thumping header by O'Hare to make it 3-0 and round off a great team performance.

Man of the match Dave O'Hare kindly congratulated by club legend John Tweed!

Reserves bounced by from last weeks defeat with a 3-1 victory over Combe St Nicholas. Goals from Toby Davey and 2 from man of the match Kyle Strange. Well done boys.

UP THE COBBS!
