Street 1-4 Plymouth Parkway

Cobblers suffer replay defeat

Street went down to a 4-1 defeat at the Tannery yesterday evening as their FA Cup run ended for another year.

Street started very brightly and the visitors would be thankful for a string of outstanding saves in the first 10 minutes notably from Dave O'Hare and a unbelievable stop from a Phil Ormrod header. Against the run of play on 10 minutes Parkway won a free kick 25 yards out and Jordan Trott's low effort took a wicked deflection which wrong footed Tom Punchard and rolled into the corner of the net. A second sucker punch for the Cobbs moments later as a free flowing move ended with Mike Smith being allowed time to pick his spot on the angle and he found the bottom corner.

Ten minutes after the restart, Punchard made a fantastic double save to keep Street in the game and Craig Herrod nearly made it 2-1 but his shot was well blocked at the near post. The task was made more difficult when skipper Ben Amghar received his marching orders for a 2nd yellow card mid way through the half.

A Lewis Waldy shot from distance was easily kept out as the game moved into the last 15 minutes but Parkway managed to make it 3 through Adam Carter with another deflected effort that gave Punchard no chance. The game was all but over with 10 minutes left when Carter again finished well.

Sub Ed Butcher reduced the arrears with a well taken goal from the edge of the box but it wasn't to be for the Cobblers on the night. Good luck to Plymouth Parkway in the next round.
