Street vs Larkhall Athletic preview

Southern League action at the Tannery Ground this Saturday as we welcome Larkhall Athletic. It wasn't that long ago we were locking horns in the Western League but times have certainly changed and both teams will be looking to kick on in the second half of the season and finish the campaign strongly.

Recent results have been mixed for 'The Larks' but a narrow defeat at home to high flyers Moneyfields and a draw away at Bristol Manor Farm shows that on their day they are as competitive as any team in the division. In their ranks they boast one of the top scorers in the division in the much travelled Lewis Powell.

Street's 6 match unbeaten run came to an end at table toppers Yate Town last Saturday a game the Cobblers will feel they deserved at least a point from but performance wise it was very encouraging. They will take confidence from a 2-0 away win at Larkhall earlier in the season with goals coming from Steve Murray and Ed butcher.

Manager Rich Fey is happy with his teams progress to date "Who would have thought going into 2nd half of the season we would be sitting in 8th place. The boys have been unbelievable and all played there part and I hope they carry on their performance levels and keep entertaining the supporters who have been terrific. Every game is tough in this league no matter who you play but we have roughly the same squad as last year apart from a couple of lads we’ve given chances to from the Western League so along as they keep working hard we will be ok as the team spirit is as good as ever. We are up against a good Larkhall Athletic team who have good experience and goals in their side but we will be giving our best to try and get something as always. Dave O'Hare returns to the squad after missing the last game"
