It’s great to welcome you all back to The Tannery for the first game in what we all hope will be a full season after the truncating of the last two though I have to say, at the time of writing, that I rate our chances of managing a full thirty-six fixtures at fifty-fifty. Frustrating as it’s been not seeing The Cobblers in action on a regular basis since March last year, the break imposed by the successive lockdowns has given us the opportunity to address a lot of other issues around the running of the club, not just the physical infrastructure but also the question of membership. Previously this related solely to use of the Social Club outside of matchdays but that will become redundant in the future so in its place we are introducing a new scheme involving discounts for tickets and on food at selected home games as well as monthly prize draws; the aim is for our valued supporters to feel they are investing more in the club than by simply coming through the gate and cheering on the team, much as we welcome that commitment as well. If the disruption of the past eighteen months or so has shown us one thing it’s that we as a club are very dependent on the support and participation in every way of our local community, be that in the giving of time or money. We want everyone who comes to our games (whether regularly, occasionally or rarely) to have a stake in the club and in becoming a member you can show your commitment to us which we will do our best to reward in helping you feel that you’re part of what we’re trying to build here at Street FC.
Enjoy the game (and, I hope, the whole season….)
