Manager and interim Chairman appointed

A good deal has been going on behind the scenes in recent days and weeks and we’re pleased to announce some important appointments.

First of all, after a rigorous selection process, Des Bulpin has been appointed as first team manager. Des has a wealth of coaching experience at elite level both at home and overseas and he is already building a squad for next season together with his support coaches. Pre-season fitness training is well underway ahead of our first friendly match at home to Newquay on Saturday 13th July. The following Saturday we entertain Bristol Manor Farm and full details of all pre-season matches will follow.

Mention should also be made of the Reserve and U18 teams both of which will be playing at a higher level next season.

Clive Cabble has agreed to act as interim chair until the AGM in July when hopefully his permanent appointment will be confirmed. Clive is a retired local business man who is well known on the Somerset football scene and he brings a good deal of football experience and local knowledge to the club. The committee has also been strengthened with the addition of individuals with valuable business, financial and legal experience and for the first time, the club now has a Commercial Manager. This is an important role in not only raising funds but in developing the role of the club in the local community.

Our facilities are second to none at this level and a considerable amount of work has been done on the pitch and the results are already there for all to see. So this is an very exciting time for the club and we are well placed to face the challenges of next season and beyond.
