Pre season round up

Street have completed their pre-season programme and new manager Des Bulpin will be reasonably happy as they gear up for life in the Western League Premier Division. Des and his assistant Nick Andrews have put together a very young squad in what will be a very challenging but exciting season ahead.

The Cobblers started off with a warm fixture against Westlands recording a 5-0 victory. The first official pre season game was a 5-1 win over Newquay with Kam Andrews, Olly Hebbard, Dan Linham and Leighton Thomas on the score sheet.

The most eye catching performance was a 3-3 draw with Southern League side Bristol Manor Farm with the Cobblers showing plenty of pace and energy and pushed their opponents very hard. Harry Gardner, Olly Hebbard and Sam Smith scoring on that occasion.

Two local derby’s ended the pre season programme. Firstly an entertaining 2-2 draw with Wells City with Dan Linham and Brad Shephard scoring on the day and a 3-0 reverse against a clinical Cheddar side.

Opportunities during pre season were given to under 18 players Dan Jones, Kyle Strange, Jakob Dickens, Luke Roberts, Elliot Hegarty, Alexandro Costanza, Will Osbourne, Spencer Chinnock and Reece Cornish all of which didn’t look out of place and will be looking to take their chance in the first team this season.

The first game of the season is in the league and an away encounter with local rivals Shepton Mallet this Saturday, kick off 3pm.
